The recipient of this award for 2014 is Ian Coles, who was presented with his award on 12th February 2015 at the Community Council meeting. He was presented with an engraved shield, and his wife Karen who accompanied him, was presented with a floral bouquet. This award recognises achievement or work or activities which benefit the community and can be awarded to an individual, group or organisation.

Ian, along with Karen, have run Coity village shop and Post Office for the past 13 years, and many of the village residents rely on the store, which stocks a wide range of goods. In addition, following the closure of many local post offices, people from outside the village also use the store. Ian is always courteous,  helpful and  very obliging, and always has a smile for his customers and goes out of his way to please them. He is very reliable, and is a great asset to the village as the shop is at the centre of the community, and in addition to running his business he assists the many different organisations within the village by advertising events and assisting with ticket sales.
