The recipient of this award for 2015 is Kim Helling, who was presented with her award on 10th
March 2016 at the Community Council meeting. Kim was presented with an engraved shield
and a floral bouquet. This award recognises achievement or work or activities which benefit
the community and can be awarded to an individual, group or organisation.
Kim has been engaged in community life for over 35 years. She joined Coity Village
Association in 1979 and worked tirelessly on the committee for a number of years and has been
Vice-Chair and in October 2015 was elected Chairperson. Kim has also made a long term
contribution to education in the community through being a member of the PTA
and a member of the Governing Body of Coety Primary School during the 1980s.
In addition, since 1979 Kim has been devoted to the Guiding Movement; she volunteered
with 1st Coity Brownies in 1979, was a leader from 1981 – 2014, was Guide Leader with 1st
Coity Guides (2006 -2013), Division Commissioner Girl Guiding Penybont Division (2010 –
2012) and Assistant County Commissioner Central Glamorgan (2010 – present) .
