Statement Regarding Safer Routes To Schools Scheme

Following a recent meeting with Bridgend County Borough Council Officers to discuss the details of the successful bid for Welsh Government funding for Coity Higher’s Safer Routes to Schools submission, we were disappointed to learn that it appears that only two small elements of the scheme were submitted for funding.
During an Extraordinary Meeting of Coity Higher Community Council on 4th July 2019, the Members agreed to write to the Leader and Chief Executive of Bridgend County Borough Council to seek an urgent meeting to clarify how this happened. The Council will also request that the proposed works are suspended until a way forward can be agreed, to prioritise more urgent works within the plan.
